Welcome to my first blog!
Since my term in office began, I've re-developed Student media at Hallam Union, re-branding it as SHU-media. During freshers week SHU-box (The Unions TV station) filmed all the new students at the various events during the week, this leading to around an hour & a halfs worth of footage which was part of the SHU-box launch material. SHU-radio replaced last years Rush Radio, and so far has made good progress, with several podcasts now online to listen to! SHU-print has also improved this year, changing from anA3 newsaper to a B5 magazine, which is now in full colour & online.
To launch SHU-media, the union hosted the Monster Media Launch Party. The event taking place before Embrace on Wednesday the 31st of October, Halloween, was a great success with over a two hundred students attending. Plus SHU-radio got many interviews with sports teams and SHU-box filmed the apple bobbing & best dressed competitions.
All SHU-media can be viewed at www.shumedia.co.uk or here at the union from 12 everyday in Bar Phoenix. They can also be viewed on IPTV, which is available at University learning centres. SHU-print can be picked up from various places around University campus & many places in the Students Union.
We've also had the AGM, where students discussed & highlighted topics that were affecting them. This years AGM had the highest turn out for a very long time.
There has also been graduations, walking down to the stage in time with old fashioned music was a change to my normal working day but it was good seeing people credited for their hard work!
Throughout the second semester i will be helping & organising alot of charity events for Help a Hallam Child so watch out & get involved! Also get involved with SHU-media! its good fun & looks great on your CV!
